(a) On U.S. inspected ships, oily-water separating equipment, bilge alarms, and bilge monitors must be approved under 46 CFR 162.050. (b) On U.S. uninspected ships and foreign ships, oily-water separating equipment, bilge alarms, and bilge monitors must be approved under 46 CFR 162.050 or be listed in the current International Maritime Organization (IMO) Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) Circular summary of MARPOL 73/78 approved equipment.
