(a) Butt-welding type fittings must meet the marking, end preparation, and the bursting strength requirements of ASME/ANSI B16.9 or MSS Standard Practice SP-75. (b) There may not be any buckles, dents, cracks, gouges, or other defects in the fitting that might reduce the strength of the fitting. (c) The fitting must be suitable for the intended service and be at least as strong as the pipe and other fittings in the pipeline system to which it is attached.
