Yes. Such an employee who takes leave of any kind will be allowed a per diem allowance not to exceed the maximum rates for the location where the interruption occurs. Per diem may be [[Page 68]] continued for a reasonable period, normally not to exceed 14 calendar days (including fractional days) for any one period of absence. However, per diem will not be paid if the employee is confined to a hospital or medical facility at the official duty station or medical facility which the employee would have selected for treatment if the illness or injury had occurred at the official station.
