[Code of Federal Regulations] [Title 42, Volume 3] [Revised as of October 1, 2004] From the U.S. Government Printing Office via GPO Access [CITE: 42CFR440.160] [Page 241] TITLE 42--PUBLIC HEALTH CHAPTER IV--CENTERS FOR MEDICARE & MEDICAID SERVICES, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES (CONTINUED) PART 440_SERVICES: GENERAL PROVISIONS--Table of Contents Subpart A_Definitions Sec. 440.160 Inpatient psychiatric services for individuals under age 21. ``Inpatient psychiatric services for individuals under age 21'' means services that-- (a) Are provided under the direction of a physician; (b) Are provided by-- (1) A psychiatric hospital or an inpatient psychiatric program in a hospital, accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, or (2) A psychiatric facility which is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, or by any other accrediting organization, with comparable standards, that is recognized by the State.
