(a) The Coast Guard approves a sound signal if: (1) It meets the requirements for sound signals in Sec. 67.10-1 (a), (b), (c), (d), and (e) when tested under Sec. 67.10-20; or (2) It is similar to a sound signal which was tested and approved under the provisions of this section and the Coast Guard has approved all variations in design, construction, production, and manufacture from the sound signal tested. (b) A sound signal that is an identical production model of a sound signal which has been approved under paragraph (a) of this section is a Coast Guard approved sound signal.
