The training of all roadway workers shall include, as a minimum, the following: (a) Recognition of railroad tracks and understanding of the space around them within which on-track safety is required. (b) The functions and responsibilities of various persons involved with on-track safety procedures. (c) Proper compliance with on-track safety instructions given by persons performing or responsible for on-track safety functions. (d) Signals given by watchmen/lookouts, and the proper procedures upon receiving a train approach warning from a lookout. (e) The hazards associated with working on or near railroad tracks, including review of on-track safety rules and procedures.
