(a) This section applies to each tankship and tank barge the construction of which begins on or after September 6, 1977. (b) Each tank vessel over 300 feet in length must have the loading information prescribed in either Sec. 42.15-1(a) or Sec. 45.105(a) of this chapter. For tank vessels subject to the Load Line Acts the information must be approved by the Commandant or by a recognized classification society that is approved by the Commandant. For tank vessels not subject to the Load Line Acts loading information must be approved by the Commandant. If the vessel is a tankship, the approved information must be provided to the master of the vessel. If the vessel is a tank barge, the information must be provided to the person in charge of handling the cargo during loading or off-loading of the barge.
