A U.S. registration that has been replaced by a registered extension of protection under section 74 of the Act and Sec. 7.28 will remain in force, unless cancelled, expired or surrendered, as long as: (a) The owner of the replaced U.S. registration continues to file affidavits or declarations of use in commerce or excusable nonuse under section 8 of the Act; and [[Page 319]] (b) The replaced U.S. registration is renewed under section 9 of the Act.
